Georgios Papakostas

Prof. George A. Papakostas has received a diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1999... and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2002 and 2007, respectively, from the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH), Greece. He serves as a Tenured Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science, International Hellenic University, Greece. He has 10 years of experience in large-scale systems design, as a senior software engineer and technical manager in INTRACOM TELECOM S.A. and INTRALOT S.A. companies. He has (co)authored more than 150 publications in indexed journals, international conferences and book chapters, 1 book (in greek), 2 edited books and 5 journal special issues. His publications have more than 2400 citations with an h-index 29 (GoogleScholar). His research interests include machine learning, computer/machine vision, pattern recognition, computational intelligence. Dr. Papakostas served as a reviewer in numerous journals and conferences and he is a member of the IAENG, MIR Labs, EUCogIII and the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE).
Ioannis Tsimperidis

Dr. Ioannis Tsimberidis received his diploma from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering... of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), in 1997, the MSc and the PhD from the respective Department of the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH), in 2002 and 2017, respectively. From November 2003 to September 2004 he worked as an executive in the industry. From September 2006 until September 2021 he was a permanent teacher of Secondary Education, serving in schools and public services of the regional units of Drama and Evros. Since October 2021 he is Laboratory Teaching Staff of the Department of Informatics of International Hellenic University (IHU). He has taught courses in computer science, electrical engineering, electronics, and mathematics in various educational structures. His research interests are keystroke dynamics, user classification, machine learning, and data mining.

Anestis Hatzimichailidis

Dr. Anestis Chatzimichailidis holds a degree in Mathematics (University of Crete) with a Master's Degree... in Applied Mathematics (Polytechnic School of DUTH) and a PhD in Fuzzy Logic (Department of Civil Engineering, DUTH). The field of his writing and research work is Mathematics of Computer Science. In particular, he is the author of three books in the fields of Discrete Mathematics and Infinite Calculus. Publishes papers in the Cognitive Areas of Fuzzy Logic, Fuzzy Sets (FS) and Intuitively Fuzzy Sets (IFSs). More specifically, his research interests include the vague logical links, metrics and similarity measures of FS and IFSs, with applications in artificial intelligence. He works (has worked) as a Scientific Associate in the Universities (Departments): IHU (Agricultural Biotechnology and Oenology, Forestry and Natural Environment), HOU (Informatics), TEI-EMTH (Informatics Engineers), TEI-CM (Geoinformatics and Topography).
Venetis Kanakaris

Dr. Venetis Kanakaris was born in Komotini, Greece. He received the B.Eng. degree in Electronic Engineering... from Lamia Technical University, Greece, the B.Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering from Kavala Technical University, Greece, in 2004, and the M.Sc. degree in Telecommunications and Technologies from Technical University of Gabrovo, Bulgaria, in 2006. Also, received his PhD from University of Portsmouth in 2012, U.K. as well as the M.Ed. from Open University of Greece in 2013. Since October of 2016, is adjunct Lecturer at International Hellenic University, Dept. of Computer Science, Kavala, Greece. His current research interests lie in energy ad hoc routing protocols and low-power underwater wireless sensor protocol architecture OSINT techniques, LORA infrastructures, BlockChain technologies in farming and agriculture. Besides the engineering research interests, he focusses on lifelong learning sector as well as the adult education.

Due to his multi-nature background, he loves bridging the gap between A.I. Engineers, C-level and Academics, embracing innovation and agile transformation. Having 10+ years’ experience in the field of A.I. (Ph.D. (DUTH) & Post-Doc (HKUST)), Efstratios currently serves as Director in Prudential plc looking after Responsible AI process and other Tech Risks. In the past, he served as A.I. Lab & Data Collaboration Lab Manager for Hong Kong Hospital Authority and before that as Director for Deep Learning Medical Imaging Diagnostics company, Imsight Medical which has been established as one of the top Healthcare A.I. companies in China raising 15M USD. In addition, he served as Team leader & A.I. Consultant in the private and government sectors. Last but not least, Efstratios serves as a Honorary Lecturer for HKU Medicine School and PolyU, while maintaining an active role in the international A.I. community as a Speaker or Mentor for multiple events like Google A.I. Start-up Weekend, Re-Work, HackUST, Brinc Accelerator etc.

Dr. Eleni Vrochidou received the Diploma [Embedded Systems], the M.Sc [Automatic Control Systems] and Ph.D.... [Signal Processing] Degrees from the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH), Greece, in 2004, 2007 and 2016, respectively. She is currently a part-time lecturer in the Department of Computer Science (IHU) at the International Hellenic University (former Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Institute of Technology (EMaTTech)) Greece, where she is teaching undergraduate courses (2005-2022) and Master courses (2018-2022). Her research interests are mainly in intelligent systems, signal processing, pattern recognition and embedded systems. In these areas, she has several publications in international scientific conferences, international scientific journals and book chapters.

Since 2021, he has been working on a PhD in the usage of Deep Learning in Medical Image Analysis. Since 2010, he has been working as an executive in the industry, acquiring experience in the fields of Renewable Energy Sources and industrial automation. He has developed software applications that enable communication and data transfer from electrical components as energy analyzers and other industrial data loggers utilizing communication protocols as MODBUS and I2C. His research interests are deep learning, computer vision and IoT. Part of his work has been published in scientific journals and conferences.

Athanasios Ouzounis received both his first diploma, and Msc in Geology from the Department of Geology... of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), in 1999 and 2003, respectively. In 2022 he received his second diploma in Computer Engineering from the Department of Computer Engineering of the Internal Hellenic University (IHU). From 2004 to 2007 he worked as a freelance geologist cooperating in the industry as a GIS specialist. From 2007 until today he is working as a permanent teacher of Secondary Education in Greece. From 2021 to 2022 he was a fellow researcher at the Human-Machines Interaction Laboratory of the Department of Computer Engineering of the IHU. His research interests are in the field of geoinformatics, big data, machine learning, and data mining.
